This topic has been brought up time and time again in it's various verbal forms. A friend and I were chatting about this not long ago and in his words "People can get confused at this topic by trying to be optimistic but at the same time they self-sabotage themselves by their "reality." I have seen this be the case for many.
You have a goal in mind that you are trying to achieve and go about it by planning and planning and have a specific outcome in mind. You have a vision that includes all that you are doing and adding to the equation.
What happens if it doesn't work out? This is where the optimism comes into play.
Here's an example:
You got hired to take on a large project recruiting employees for a new company out of state. You were told for months that it was a SURE deal and to plan accordingly because all was set on the companies end for a launching time period. It's an incredible offer and so you plan for the upcoming changes. You got all the possible requirements in place, check list of office supplies, place to live, and all the other items you can think of in between. Then when it comes time to start putting all the plans into action...something happens and it doesn't work out after all. You really felt this was guided by the universe synchronistically and answer to your wishes.
Where's the "Silver Lining?" Maybe during the whole process you were experiencing more courage in taking on such a project that was bigger than you had done before and got more educated on how to run a business let alone a new business. Also you were inclined to check out another part of the country by investigating on the best area of that place to move. YOU were finding out other ways you can be, in life as a whole, from many angles. All of this leading and molding you into being better apt to take on your very own company.
It's great to have goals and dreams to keep moving towards through out life seemingly big or small. Yes apply being "realistic" and do the steps that you know best in order to achieve desired results HOWEVER keeping "optimistic" by being open to an ulterior outcome or also ulterior ways to get to an end idea. Having optimism can help with resilience as well as being open to other ways of solutions to inquiries, positive and in flow can help. A few ways to stay in flow, is to keep check on your breath and see if it is in and out in equal or close to equal balance, this helps with the energy of giving and receiving. Therefore creating more opportunities to receive ideas or help of some kind. A good flow of oxygen in the body helps to keep more optimistic and healthy as well as good posture.
Yoga is a great facilitator of even breath as well as keeping the body moving while also releasing resistance in the body.
A simple phrase to go by with this concept is;
Realistic, is the action steps that are taken and Optimistic is the light that shows the way doing its best to lead you on the path of least resistance.
"I am powerful" " I can feel the essence of my dream and know it's coming true in mysterious and beautiful ways"
